The Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center is located at the Alpena County Regional Airport just west of Alpena in Michigan's northeastern lower peninsula.  The field used to be known as Phelps-Collins Air National Guard Base.  This has been the traditional location of the Michigan Wing Summer Encampment for many years.

You can learn more about the Alpena CRTC by visiting their official web site at http://www.micrtc.ang.af.mil/.

The Alpena CRTC guard gate during a typical Michigan Winter.  The memorial plaque in the foreground was installed in 1930 and reads, "This airport is dedicated to Capt. Phelps Collins, USA who died in aerial combat - 1915."

Special thanks to J. Adam Jurkowski for the guard gate photo.  For additional photos of northeastern lower Michigan, visit http://stcimages.tripod.com/
