Born
in 1980, 1st Lt Rory P. Garnice joined Civil AirPatrol as a cadet in
1994. Since then, he has been active in the California, Montana,
and Michigan Wings. Prior to turning senior in
July of 2001, Lt Garnice held many cadet positions. Some of his
last duties included Cadet Commander of South Oakland Cadet Squadron
(1999-2001), Chairman of Michigan Wing's
Cadet Advisory Council (2000-2001), and Primary Representative to the
Great Lakes Region Cadet Advisory Council (2000). Garnice was also
the Cadet TAC Officer to the 2000 CLS Class.
One of his greatest achievements was attending the 1999 Legislative Day
in Washington, D.C., where he met with congressional staff and members
and lobbied for CAP needs, and explained its benefits. Taking what
he learned in the halls of Congress back to the classroom, Rory is
currently studying International Relations at Eastern Michigan
University.
1st Lt Garnice was the Overall Honor Graduate of the 1999 GLR CLS, and
was also named as Cadet of the Year in Michigan Wing for 1999.
2002 will mark Rory's third year on CLS staff.
Garnice has completed Achievement 16 of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet
Program, earning the Gen. Ira C. Eaker Award. He also wears the
commander's commendation with bronze clasp and the
unit citation award. Rory currently serves as the Oakland-Macomb Group
VI Cadet Programs Officer. Email
