Born in 1980, 1st Lt Rory P. Garnice joined Civil AirPatrol as a cadet in 1994.  Since then, he has been active in the California, Montana, and Michigan Wings.

Prior to turning senior in July of 2001, Lt Garnice held many cadet positions.  Some of his last duties included Cadet Commander of South Oakland Cadet Squadron (1999-2001), Chairman of Michigan Wing's
Cadet Advisory Council (2000-2001), and Primary Representative to the Great Lakes Region Cadet Advisory Council (2000).  Garnice was also the Cadet TAC Officer to the 2000 CLS Class.

One of his greatest achievements was attending the 1999 Legislative Day in Washington, D.C., where he met with congressional staff and members and lobbied for CAP needs, and explained its benefits.  Taking what he learned in the halls of Congress back to the classroom, Rory is currently studying International Relations at Eastern Michigan University.

1st Lt Garnice was the Overall Honor Graduate of the 1999 GLR CLS, and was also named as Cadet of the Year in Michigan Wing for 1999.  2002 will mark Rory's third year on CLS staff.

Garnice has completed Achievement 16 of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program, earning the Gen. Ira C. Eaker Award. He also wears the commander's commendation with bronze clasp and the unit citation award. Rory currently serves as the Oakland-Macomb Group VI Cadet Programs Officer.
