
Six squadrons competed at the 2nd Annual Cadet Olympics in Indianapolis, IN. "The purpose of the event is to promote physical fitness, squadron interaction and competition, teamwork, and to have fun!", said Major Jeff Young, event director and INWG Cadet Programs Directror. The cadets competed at situps, pushups, mile run, mile relay, quarter mile relay, volleyball, tug of war, 3-on-3 basketball, long jump, softball throw, and free throw. The squadrons competing were Anderson Composite, Falcon Composite, Grissom Cadet, Lafayette Composite, Anderson Prepatory Academy and Weir Cook Cadet squadrons.
The morning started at Lutheran High School's track field with one cadet from each squadron doing the situps and pushups. The goal was the most number in two minutes. Falcon was the winner of the pushups and Grissom was the winner of the situps. Next came the mile run, mile relay, and quarter mile relay. The events were won by Anderson Prepatory, Grissom and Falcon, respectively. The outdoor activities ended with the softball throw, where Weir Cook clearly overthrew the others.
The indoor activities started with a tug of war and long jump with Grissom taking the events. Then the cadets competed at basketball and volleyball. Double Elimination Tournament rules were used to give all teams a fair share at the trophy. The free throw and voleyball were won by Weir Cook, and the the 3-on-3 basketball was won by Anderson Prepatory.
