What's the fairest way to fill 1200 slots when 3000 cadets apply? Looking for ways to improve the slotting system for NCSA's, NHQ took input from Cadet Programs staff and Cadet Advisory Councils across the nation and has now announced a new slotting process for the 2008.
The memo below explains how they’ve decided to manage the process for 2008. It is probably not perfect, and will in all likelihood change over the next few years, meanwhile the system is as fair and practical as they could make it. The attached memo provides details on the new system.
Key Points:
- Wings no longer rank order cadets; they will only determine the top 10% (green light cadets)
- Applicants must have received encampment credit at the time of application
- Wings are still authorized to hold selection boards or otherwise apply their own criteria
- COS & IACE will still be handled separately
The NCSA season kicks off on 1 November when a menu of 25+ awesome activities will be posted on the National web site at www.cap.gov/ncsa.
