15 OCTOBER 2002 MEMORANDUM FOR WING/CC’s SUBJECT: GLR Policy/Tire Pressure Markings 1. As we all know there has been an issue involving the tire pressure on our 12 and 15 Passenger vans. The National IG continues to find this problem during Wing Compliance Inspections. A suggestion has been put forth by the National LG that we mark the tire pressure on these vans similar to what commercial vehicles and military vehicles have. By placing markings on the vehicle it makes clear to service vendors and operators what the correct tire pressure should be. 2. Effective immediately GLR policy will be to mark the tire pressure on all 12 and 15 passenger vans on the wheel well trim just above the front and rear tires. The markings will be done using 1-inch letters/numbers (blue or black) that say (example) TP80 (15-pax rear axle). Please refer to the manufacture’s sticker on the door to confirm the correct tire pressure for the vehicle’s front and rear tires. Vinyl marking cut outs can be purchased at most hardware stores for very little cost. 3. Please insure that all custodians in the region who have 12 or 15 pax vans receive this policy letter. It will be the responsibility of the custodian to insure compliance with this policy directive. This will be accomplished immediately. We must be proactive in the protection and safety of our members. WILLIAM
